Why Do I Think Things Like This Are Acceptable?

So today, much like yesterday and the day before that, I have classes to go to. My first one starts at 9:00. So as I was getting ready this morning I thought to myself,"self, you know what you should wear today? skinny jeans and your american eagle Hoodie, the white one with the yellow letters on it". So I got in the shower, did my hair and makeup and got dressed. Then I realized that the hoodie I was wearing, is short. Yes, but I must have figured that it was ok, Why not dress like a hobo two days in a row? I am starting a streak.

Also, as I was taking this awfully lit picture I had to use the clock timer on my camera so I would set the camera up, click the shutter button run to my spot in by the plant and pose, while a bunch of crazy music majors walked by.  So guess who is the weird one now. (me, it's me)

And the small hoodie is not even the best part, on no, go ahead and scroll down a bit.

If you read yesterdays post, then you should have seen this coming. What is it? Ya, shoes with over the ankle socks. WHY DO I KEEP DRESSING LIKE THIS!?!?! It is like when a child dresses herself and goes to show her mom what a good job she has done but then the mother sends her back and then picks clothes out for her, because we live in a society where it is unacceptable to wear a princess dress on a regular basis (which by the way is crap). Only for me, there is no mom telling me "oh Honey, you look like a hobo today, you should go change."

Why it can't just be summer all year round so that I can wear my pre determined summer outfits is beyond me.

On a different, more artsy note, Check out this picture I drew of myself!? Sometimes I love college because I can do stuff like this and get a grade for it.

It's Only Sometimes OK To Dress Like A Hobo To College

The past 24 hours has been kind of weird.
First of all I got a new job about a week ago, I now am a kiosk person. So I was closing the kiosk last night and I was just about done, all I had to do was take the garbage out. Unfortunately I forgot where the big mall garbage was so I just took all the garbage home with me. In my truck. Ya, this really happened.

Then this morning I was on my way to school (after I threw out the garbage from last night, thank goodness). And what do you know, there is no place to park in the entire university parking lot, all 20 something of them. So I parked a mile away in the Jakes Over The Top parking lot. Fortunately this is where the cool trucks park. My majestic silver toyota included.

Just to prove my point, here is the parking lot, It might look like there is space to the right of the red car, but I assure you, it is entirely packed.

Then as I was walking the mini marathon to class, I realized that I was dressed like a freaking hobo! And then I see these college girls. WHY CAN'T I BE A CUTE COLLEGE GIRL LIKE THEM?!?! (directly after I took this photo, I realized what a creep I was being, you know, taking secret pictures of school girls. Yikes.)

It is only sometimes ok to dress like a hobo to college.
But only sometimes. Today being one of those times.

Let's review:
Pants: $5 (from rue 21 of all places)
Shirt: $4 (from the DI)
Shoes: $2.50 (fake Toms, of course)
Hat: from years ago, and it needs to be washed, eww)
Jacket: Found in the back of my truck, it was cold this morning

Also, a note on my hair, can you say Wayne Campbell?

And what is this? Fake Toms with socks?!?! Who am I these days?

But it gets better, They are Ariel socks. As in the little mermaid. Thats right.

I can't think of anything else to say.

DIY: Churn dash block pillow case

So For school, one of our projects is to participate in the 1 million pillow case challenge. I dose to do the churn dash block one and It turned out so well.

The official pattern instructions can be found here
http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/images/millionpillowcases/landing-page/Pillowcase_27.pdf

First cut out all your pieces

First sew the blue lines: triangles into small squares
Second sew the green lines to form 3 strips
Third sew each strip to form a square

Iron all the seams open as you go

You will end up with 8 squares like this one

Take the quilted band and the solid band and place one inside each other right sides together
Then sew them together on one end

Next fold your pillow case in half and sew all but one end
In the picture it looks small but it is regular pillow case size in reality

Then put the pillow case inside the band we sewed earlier and sew them together

Next top stitch along the pillow case (the brown part) and iron the whole thing

The finished pillow case!
Some little kid is going to get this and going to be so happy that they have something beautiful that they can call their own.

Costal Scents Haul: 88 Color Pallet

So this is what came in the mail! I got it on a Labor day sale.
I ordered the classic original 88 color pallet as well as 3 brushes. They sent me a free sample of eye shadow in some weird green color, but hey it was free and it looks promising.

So here is what the outside of the pallet looks like, very chic and classy right?

And here is the inside! Now I know the pallet looks HUGE! but the actual pots of color are actually just 1 cm by 1 cm. They are relatively small but there are so many colors that I don't mind how small they are. LOOK AT ALL THE COLORS!

This is the first brush, it has a fluffy "dome" shaped top perfect for blending

This is the second second brush, it is just a basic brush that is slightly pointed at the tip

Finally the third and last brush that I bought, it has a rounded top and is the biggest brush in my eyeshadow set

I am so excited to get to use my new brushes and all those great colors of eyeshadow. I will be sure to continue to post about this pallet!

Swimming Season Is Upon Us

In high school I was on the swim team. I was a captain my Junior and Senior year and did fairly well in competition. I'm no missy franklin (lets face it, who is) but I really enjoyed it for the most part. My younger sister is in a sophomore this year and decided that she wanted to swim. So I took her to my Uncles pool to learn a few strokes and tecniques. Hopefully she will stick it out!

The before we got in the pool. My swimsuit is from my junior year of high school and it still fits!

She is my little angel  :)
This is funny because all she wanted to do was play mermaid...

After our workout and technique sesh! Great Job sis!

DIY Melted Crayon Art

So, Who hasn't tried doing this "Melted crayon art" yet? Seriously though, it is all over pinterest! (I love pinterest)
Even though there are plenty of tutorials about the crayon art, I thought I would give it a shot!
What I used:
Poster Board
48 pack of Crayola Crayons
A Tupperware lid (a bowl is pictured because It was to big so I switched to a smaller lid)
Hot Glue Gun
Penil
Ruler
Black and White Acrylic Paint
Small Paint Brush
X-acto knife
Print out Ducks

First I pulled the colors out of the box that I wanted to use, and Lined them up according to the colors of the rainbow

Next I switched my below (pictured above) for a smaller Tupperware lid, and Lined the crayons around it in the corresponding colors

Then I glued them down onto the poster board with hot glue and removed the lid
I glued each crayon the "Crayola" logo side up

Next I printed out these duck pictures and cut them out with an X-acto knife, Used a ruler to space them each in about 2 inches and traced around them

I cut out the mamma duck (far right) and the one directly behind her

Next I mixed my paint, I wanted the ducks to be in grey scale starting from white and progressively getting black
To do this I started with white and added tinny bits of black to the paint to get an array of grey colors

Then I painted the ducks in greyscale

Finally I used a blow dryer to melt the crayons into this crazy design
Seriously take your time on this part, watch your crayons and tilt the poster board in the direction you want the wax to melt and drop down the page

I think it is cute, and I think it will get me an "A" (because I am going to turn it in for college credit! HA! Multi tasking!

A Night At The Cowboy

For those who don't know (which I can safely assume is almost nobody, because people don't read my blog, that's why I can post crap like this) "The Cowboy" Is a country dancing place in my city. It is run by a couple of kids who are also my kind of friends (you know, those people who you know and are nice to but never hang out with). I had never been before and it was supposed to be super a lot, tons of fun. So my two friends and I got dressed in our semi country outfits and hit the town (of course first making a quick stop at the nearest village inn for free pie day). After super delicious free pie, we finally get to the dance.

And it is full of super weird people.

As a side note, I am not a good country dancer, I have never been great at them for one reason, size. I am a 6 foot tall 170 pound giant of a girl. (also I never get asked to dance but that is another story). Line dances also fall into this "Country Dance" category. Line dancing is a lot like Zumba or Aerobics, only I feel a million times more stupid doing line dances because it is the same steps over and over and over, but I can never seem to catch on. Zumba on the other hand has a lot of variations and is high energy so as long as you are trying to keep up and burring calories you are ok to proceed in an un-orderly fashion.

Back to why I suck at country dancing.

I am a big person in general, graceful, but big. So when you go to a place like "The Cowboy" all the boys only want to dance with the super petite girls (no I am not hating on small girls, with out petite girls there would be nobody to buy the XS sizes on clearance, thus hurting the economy). The boys that regularly attend the country dance get rather good the steps and making up their own.

Anyways, long story short, I had to dance with the big sweaty kid who kept trying to throw me in the air (yes, me the 6 foot tall 170 pound person). I did not know what to even think about the whole thing. First the kid was literally drenched in sweat, which in turn made him smell really really awful. Secondly   HE KEPT TRYING TO THROW ME UP IN THE AIR!!!
That is until I accidentally kicked him in the jaw....

Welp that is pretty much where this story ends.

Please enjoy this grainy photo we took before the night went so badly.

Thoughts on life 1.

You know what? Here I am sitting in an unused corner of my schools campus theater arts building (no I am not a theater student, I just am taking a theater class to fulfill generals) and I decide that out of nowhere I need to start actually blogging about my life so I opened up a new page on blogger and here we are. I realize that not many people will read this, but one day I hope to look back on this blog and be utterly proud of all that I have done and accomplished and not only will I be able to read about stuff I have done in the past but I will have pictures and tutorials and movies about my life. I am not very old, and I don't plan on ever getting "old" but If I ever do, I think I will be super grateful that I have kept a record, and not just a journal, but a real life real time record of how I spend my life.

I am currently on my second year of college and I graduate this semester with my associates degree of general studies, I completed it in a year and one semester, which I think is super good :) I have a stage costuming class today (which I am super terrified for) but we will see how it goes!

Also I am really busy these days! And I kind of like it! I love going to school and learning, also seeing my friends! This is the first semester that I have actually had lots of friends at school the same time I am there, So seeing them in passing is really cool to me!

Wow, this post is kind of scatterbrained, because now I am going to end it on this note!

New posts coming soon! lots of new ideas and stuff :) And stuff, haha
